Successful candidates will engage in various tasks, including egg setting and transfer, chick take-off and processing, and various cleaning duties. The operation relies on migratory beekeeping; travelling to areas where the trees are flowering to produce honey and provide pollination throughout South East and Western Queensland and Central NSW.

About The Position:

Key Responsibilities:

• Working with European Honey Bees (Apis mellifera species)
• Utilising appropriate personal protective equipment (supplied) 
• Safely lighting and extinguishing a hive smoker
• Harvesting honey from hives 
• Working in the honey extraction facility to extract honey
• Construction and maintenance of hive equipment  
• Monitoring and maintaining hives to ensure that they are functioning appropriately, as well as pest and disease free
• Transportation of beehives to pollination contracts, honey production apiary sites, etc.
• Undertaking seasonal beehive management, which will involve work away from home, as well as work on some weekends and public holidays
• Maintaining accurate records related to re-queening, apiary site record, disease monitoring, cleaning and sanitation, honey extracting and processing
• Adherence to relevant work, health and safety, and food standards for work with a stinging insect and with a food product
• Undertaking beekeeping work in accordance with “National best management practice for beekeeping in the Australian environment”

Skills and Experience:

• Must be physically fit with no known allergies to bees/bee stings

The role 

We are seeking an experienced early life specialist (farrowing) to join our team in the Leyburn area, 50 minutes from Toowoomba. The position is full-time with an 11 day on, 3 day off fortnightly roster. Our modern facilities and genetics will allow your skills to shine.

About the Role

Darwalla is seeking motivated Leading Hand to work in our modern chicken hatchery, located in Allora, between Toowoomba & Warwick.  The hatchery can operate 7 days per week, but you will generally be required to work a minimum of 38 hours per week, over 4 days/week with 5.30am starts.  Applicants should have a flexible approach to changing work times/days and working overtime as and when production requires, so having your own reliable transport is a must.

The successful candidates will be required to carry out a wide range of tasks including effective supervision of a team, daily duties allocation, data entry, accurate preparation and completion of production documentation, egg setting and transfer, chick take-off and processing, vaccine preparation, and various cleaning jobs. The work will be quite physical, so applicants must be fit and healthy.  A pre-employment medical will be undertaken.

The poultry industry has very strict bio-security and animal welfare standards, so all employees are restricted from keeping pet birds, poultry and pigs and residing with others who work at other poultry or involved with pig farming/hunting. The hatchery is a shower-on, shower-off facility.

About the role

We are seeking fulltime Animal Attendants to work on our farms in the Leyburn area, 50 minutes from both Warwick and Toowoomba, QLD. To be successful in the role you will need to have a positive attitude and a willingness to work with livestock. 

Prior experience in the pig industry is preferred however all candidates will be provided training to ensure they are successful within the role. Performing well in this role can lead to further career opportunities and training within the company. 

The main responsibilities of the role are animal husbandry tasks which include: 

• Maintaining high animal welfare standards 
• Performing routine health checks
• Ensuring animal hygiene and environments are maintained 
• Upholding strict biosecurity measures

• Prepare and execute commissioning and energization plans for the entirety of the wind farm systems in consultation with the TNSP, AEMO, wind farm contractors and suppliers, and our remote control center.
