Position Summary

This role is for you if you are a natural leader with proven experience in people management, with a continuous improvement/LEAN manufacturing mindset with the capability to drive improvement through employee engagement and application of standard routines and problem-solving tools.

Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be responsible for driving optimal performance and promoting continuous improvement to ensure production operates smoothly and successfully. The Gympie factory is a 24/7 operation, and this role involves working rotating 12-hour shifts of 2 days, 2 nights, 4 days off.

A day in the life…

Supervising a team of 8 Production Operators, you will be responsible for overseeing the coffee manufacturing process from green bean tipping and cleaning, roasting, grinding, extraction, evaporation, and spray drying to deliver the daily production plan whilst ensuring all production work adheres to safety, quality, compliance, reliability, and cost requirements. 

Your responsibilities and deliverables include:

  • Leading, coaching & motivating a multi-skilled team to work to standards whist achieving individual, departmental, development, and planned performance improvements.
  • Fostering continuous improvement and Nestlé Continuous Excellence (NCE) principles to build capability and improve your areas overall performance.
  • Building relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Leveraging team-based problem-solving techniques to investigate, analyse, identify, and mitigate causes of safety, quality, and efficiency gaps in manufacturing.
  • Driving Focused Improvement projects and activities in accordance with site objectives and the production plan
  • Analysing and presenting general production data to cross-functional representatives.

  • Have previous experience supervising shift teams, preferably in a FMCG production environment.
  • Possess excellent people management skills with a demonstrated ability of implementing a Continuous Improvement culture.
  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communications skills, to lead Operators, communicate, and achieve production goals and objectives.
  • Skilled in analytical and problem solving processes to effectuate thorough incident resolutions.
  • Engineering qualifications / aptitude is beneficial.
  • Excellent computing skills, preferably experienced working with SAP software.

The Position

This position is an initiative by the Skilling for Queenslanders for Work Program and aims to upskill job seekers in the SE Queensland region. We have on offer 6-month traineeships (multiple positions) in Conservation & Ecosystem Management Certificate I. These positions also offer trainees the opportunity to obtain their Agricultural Control & Distribution of Chemicals (ACDC) licence as well as a white card and chainsaw L1 qualifications. You will learn from botanists, ecologists, rangers and more experts across the NRM industry.

Key Responsibilities;

  • Carry out environmental regeneration and revegetation works as directed.
  • Carry out seed sewing, and production activities in a nursery environment as directed. 
  • Undertake appropriate handling, transportation and use of herbicides with an understanding of different techniques and applications.
  • Develop a working knowledge of native and invasive flora and fauna identification.
  • Develop an understanding of mapping and site planning.
  • Develop workplace and interpersonal skills.
  • Carry out weed control activities.
  • Carry out brush cutting and chainsaw activities under supervision.
  • Carrying out equipment maintenance.
  • Study and submit assessments on time to complete a Certificate I in Conservation & Ecosystem Management.

This traineeship gives you the ability to learn from and work with some of the Sunshine Coasts best ecologists and bush regenerators. We give you the tools to make industry connections to find further employment after the traineeship has complete. You will attend workshop and presentations on topics such as animal ecology and botany. Use ArcGIS, aid project managers, and work with Queensland Parks and Wildlife Rangers and Landcare organisations.

Job Description:

  • To ensure all team members are aware of, and follow, safety procedures and to work with the NTS Workplace Health and Safety Adviser to improve on safety in the workplace.
  • To work alongside the Purchasing Manager to ensure all raw materials, packaging and other items are kept on hand and at acceptable levels (minimums and maximums).
  • To work alongside the Export Manager to ensure all international orders leave NTS in the correct manner – abiding by all country requirements etc.
  • To ensure the Production factories are kept in good working order, shelves are stocked correctly/safely and all work areas are tidy and free from clutter and potential dangers.
  • To ensure all Dangerous and Hazardous Goods are labelled and stored correctly and handled appropriately by all team members.
  • To ensure all NTS product has a traceable batch number and expiry date (expiry date is not required on some dry products).
