About the role

Our Donor Mobile Units and Pop-up blood donation sites are seeking two Nursing Assistants with fantastic customer-facing experience and a genuine passion to deliver an exceptional service to our Donors. As a DSNA with the South Australian Mobile team, you will support our Donors through their donation process, while working collaboratively to achieve collection targets. The South Australian Mobile team operate mobile donor centres throughout the vibrant rural regions of South Australia, travelling regionally, rurally and locally to collect life saving blood donations.

As a travelling team, the South Australia Mobile Unit includes both Car (vehicle provided) & Airplane travel, with many of our sites requiring travel away from home for up to 5 days per week. In a 12 week period, approximately 8-10 weeks of this time will incorporate travel & accommodation away from Adelaide CBD, please note - some months incorporate more travel than others, pending demand for our life-giving products.

This position is a unique opportunity to work in a motivated operational collections team with life-giving purpose, and experience the wonderful state of South Australia and all the sights it has to offer. A day in the centre could see you:

  • Greet and interview potential donors to understand their eligibility and suitability to donate

  • Complete routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests

  • Set up machines, various tubing and collection bags

  • Insert and remove needles safely to collect whole blood, plasma, and platelets

  • Coach and guide other team members in the blood collection process

  • Manage adverse donor reactions by providing instructions and physical assistance

  • Monitor donors post-donation and assist them to rebook for their next donation

Our paid and flexible self-paced training program has a balance between on-the-job practice and online class schedules to ensure that you are well supported. Besides having a real passion to deliver an amazing donor experience, you'll need to be able to:

  • Occasionally lift between 9-22.7kgs

  • Frequently stand, walk and bend to set up and pack down machines and blood products

  • Use your nursing expertise and hold a current AHPRA registration

  • Be flexible to work varied shifts on a fortnightly rotating roster from Monday to Sunday

  • Hold a current Australian Drivers License with no restrictions

  • Be comfortable travelling/driving long distances (up to 4 hours)
  • Working up to 10 hours a day

The Role
